Faceless videos (videos where you never appear on camera) are one of the easiest ways to start making content. With free AI tools you can write the script, create a voiceover and edit the video without spending anything.
But "free" has rules. Some free plans don't allow you to earn money from what you make, or add a watermark. We explain each one so you don't get caught out. Free plans were checked in October 2026; confirm on each tool's site.
Rytr drafts short scripts, hooks and captions. Ask for a 30-second script with a strong opening line, then edit it in your own words.
Free plan: free forever, 10,000 characters a month, roughly several short scripts.
It's rated 4.7 out of 5 from over 800 G2 reviews. Users like that it's easy and quick. They also say drafts often need rewriting and can be repetitive.
ElevenLabs turns your script into a natural-sounding voice. It's rated 4.5 out of 5 from 1,293 G2 reviews, and users consistently praise how human the voices sound.
Free plan, read this carefully: about 10 minutes of speech a month. It has no commercial licence, so you can't use it in videos that earn money (monetised channels, ads or client work), and if you publish free-plan audio you must credit ElevenLabs. Commercial use starts on the paid Starter plan, about $5–6 a month.
Users' complaints: credits run out fast and don't roll over, pronunciation sometimes needs retakes, and some report slow refunds. Its Trustpilot score is much lower than its G2 score, mostly about credits and billing.
A fully free alternative: CapCut (step 3) has built-in text-to-speech voices. They're less natural, but there's no separate licence to worry about.
CapCut puts it together. Add stock clips or images, drop in your voiceover, and turn on auto-captions, which matter because many people watch with the sound off.
Free plan: editing, auto-captions and 1080p exports. Pro templates and effects add a watermark on the free plan, so stick to the free ones.
Its app is rated 4.0 out of 5 from about 12.8 million Google Play ratings. Users find it easy, especially on a phone. Complaints focus on confusing pricing and reports of difficulty cancelling paid plans.
Want a person on screen without filming yourself? Synthesia creates videos with realistic AI presenters. It's rated 4.6 out of 5 from about 2,800 G2 reviews, and users praise how easy and realistic it is.
Free plan: about 10 minutes a month with a watermark, and no video download. So it's for testing the idea; posting a Synthesia video needs a paid plan.
Want picks for your kind of videos? Vetstak Match asks what you're making and your budget, then ranks the video tools real users rate best. Free, about a minute.
Some links on this page are affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings.
Vetstak summarises what users report in public reviews. It isn't our personal opinion or professional advice, and some links may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Always confirm details with the tool's provider. Prices were checked in October 2026.
